About FreePassportPic
FreePassportPic is a small independent project that makes compliant passport and visa photos free and private. Commercial photo apps typically charge $10–$17 for a single digital photo; we think cropping a picture to a published specification should not cost money or require uploading your face to a server.
How it works
Everything runs in your browser. The face detector (Google MediaPipe, open source) finds your eyes, chin and forehead; the tool then scales and positions the photo to the selected specification and compresses the JPEG to fit any file-size limit. Specifications live in a single data file and every country page cites the official government source we checked.
What we don't do
- We don't upload, store or see your photos.
- We don't claim government approval — we are not affiliated with any agency, and acceptance is always decided by the issuing authority.
- We don't publish presets we couldn't verify against an official source.
Accuracy
Specifications were last checked on 20 October 2026. If you spot a rule that has changed, please tell us and we will update the page.
